A substantial outpouring of aid and support has literally been overhelming for Joplin, Missouri residents devastated by a massive tornado earlier this week.
The Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys’ emergency response team (ERT) training has seen such support that the web site hosting online training materials has been overloaded (but should be up and running again soon).
For now, disaster officials in Joplin are discouraging anyone from traveling to Joplin this weekend. The frontline responders are still in search and recovery mode and additional untrained volunteers would hinder their recovery efforts.
Those wishing to help can do the following:
- Join MATA’s ERT
- Donate Money [Red Cross] [United Way] [Salvation Army]
- Donate Blood
- Check the "Safe and Well" list
- Join MoTLC on Facebook [lawyers and non-lawyers welcome!]
