Ralph Phalen and Mitchell Burgess represented a class of 30,000 people who were forced to pay an illegal document preparation fee at Hendrick Automotive Group in Kansas City. The attorneys negotiated a settlement in which those affected received credits equal to between 75 percent and 100% of the illegal fee they were charged.
The settlement included $100,000 in funds taken out of attorney’s fees that was donated to the Kansas City-based Legal Aid of Western Missouri, which provides legal representation to indigent clients in civil matters.
Too often, only negative news about lawyers gets publicized. Kudos and congratulations to these lawyers, who obtained a good result for their clients and gave back to their community in the process.
