CNN has reported that Chrysler will recall 26,000 vehicles because of defective power steering systems that could cause a fire. Chrysler’s recall includes 2010 model year vehicles including the Chrysler 300, Chrysler Sebring, and the Dodge Avenger, Challenger and Journey. The recall also includes the 2011 Dodge Ram truck.

Chrysler has identified a safety defect that may cause some power steering mechanisms to break and permit power steering fluid to leak onto the engine and ignite.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is also investigating Chrysler for a fuel tank defect affecting 3 million Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles that could cause a fuel fed fire.
