Toyota Recalls More Than 1.5 Million Vehicles Because Of Brake And Fuel Pump Defects

Comments Off

Another Toyota recall. Toyota announced that it has recalled more than 1.5 million vehicles for brake and fuel pump defects. The braking defect permits brake fluid to leak from the master cylinder that causes brake performance to decline. Toyota’s fuel system defect results from defective fuel pump wiring that could cause engine malfunction.

Toyota’s latest recall brings raises Toyota’s total recalls to more than 11 million vehicles worldwide in less than one year.

From Paul Eisenstein:

This has been Toyota’s annus horribilis.

The Japanese automaker has been lurching from recall to recall, tarnishing its once-vaunted reputation for quality and giving its competitors, including U.S. companies, an opportunity to try to dig into its market share.

The latest recall involves more than 1.5 million vehicles worldwide.
