Apple's 2Q Earnings: How Much Money Does Apple Have?

Comments Off

Apple reported it's second-quarter earnings this week. For years, Apple has been famously hoarding cash. How much cash? A lot. A whole lot. $145 billion.

That's more money than most of us can understand, so let's try to put that in perspective.

Yet despite Apple's mountain of cash – and despite the fact that Apple beat both top- and bottom-line expectations – many believe that Apple has a profit problem. It seems that Apple is only making a 37.5% return on its money.

So Apple is making a 37.5% margin and is sitting on $145 billion, yet faces pressure from a flattening profit margin. This begs the question: For corporate America, how much is enough?
